Sylvester Kabombo breaks musical silence. He has officially released his first single off forthcoming album. “Wewaga” is his latest drop packed with so many keys.
“Wewaga” produced by Pro Knowledge (Legit Record) and recorded by Titan Mukisa (First Kings/ Infinit3 PowerHouse); the song carries a super live feel and guitar meets drums boom bap feel reminiscent of the Sylvester’s sound as he touches base on universal themes like pomp, peer pressure (team beef) and of course Hip Hop’s longest known theme: lyrical bravado.
lyrical deficient…/Kakkana muvubuka oyingire SACCO/game eno gyerraga yetagga ensako
Sylvester shows off his lyrical skill while shunning shallow lyricism, and applauding those who put in the work [serious people] not wannabes. “Wewaga” also addresses yes men and youth not moving with a plan. On the chorus he sings: Wepike mpola oggya kwaabika. A call to take things slow.
The cipher energy, the song is a conversation starter on fake friendship or one’s based on lies and not truth. The first verse addresses rappers (people) without skill; to skill up rather than just talk. He opens the second verse with a “a loose mouth controls whatever you do…” to comment on unproductive talk instead of putting in the work with humility (akobuntu) and the after effects of having hypocrites around you.
This one is for soaking knowledge.
Listening to the song, you won’t help bob your head and if you have some dance in you; B/G- Girl it is. it is refreshing to listen to “Wewaga.” Sylvester sounds refreshed and having so much fun making music.
For now we wait for the album as he says on the song; enjoy!
