Abramz to most is known to have been part of the conscious hiphop duo Sylvester n Abramz.In fact i grew knowing this duo as they made so many songs that painted the issues in society which we greatly appreciated (of course hiphop heads). I met Abramz a few weeks ago at Ruyonga’s Fire Army concert and had a short chat about the concert : though didnt get to ask him a number of things but hoping to.

Tekya “Abramz” Abraham is a Ugandan hiphopย artist (rapper & bboy/breakdancer), educator,
motivational speaker and creative facilitatorย who uses his skills to entertain, educate,ย empower and inspire change.
He is a member of Ugandan veteran hiphop duoย (Sylvester & Abramz) and a member of theย legendary Rock Steady Crew (RSC). Director/ย founder of Breakdance Project Uganda (BPU),ย a non profit organisation that uses breaking/ย breakdance, beatboxing, rap, visual arts plusย other art-forms and alternative ways ofย learning to promote positive social change andย social responsibility.

He believes in empowering and practicallyย challenging under previledged people in bothย third and first world countries to be part of theย solution to their own problems. He envisions aย world where both third and first world countriesย learn from each other. His vision and work areย some of indicators that Africa has so much toย contribute towards its own growth and hasย lessons/ideas/solutions that even developedย countries can benefit from.ย Abramz is one the known and respectedย Ugandan hiphop veterans who have played aย major role in shaping, spreading and sharingย this culture right from the grassroots level.

Heย got into the hiphop as a kid. He started dancingย in 1991 and emceeing (rapping) in 1992 and isย still going strong.ย Abramz is an artist who dedicated his creativity,ย skills, gifts, time and talent to empowerment,ย entertainment, education, development ofย communities and individuals as well speakingย for the voiceless.
He does this through rap music performances/ย recordings/workshops, dance performances/ย workshops, motivational speaking, interactive/ย participatory discussions, creative games,ย organizing/Hosting community events,ย organizing exchange programs and occasionallyย uses visual arts & drama/theatre.ย Over the years, Abramz has performed, taught,
facilitated workshops and spoken at seminars inย so many communities across Uganda.

He has alsoย got opportunities to carry out similar work inย different parts of the world such as Zanzibar,
Burkina Faso, Denmark, Senegal, Poland, Italy,ย Austria, South Africa, USA, Germany,ย Mozambique and Swaziland.ย He carries out this work both locally andย internationally in schools (Kindergartens,ย primary, secondary, colleges & universities),ย community centres/spaces, NGOs, Prisons (bothย juvenile and adult), Drug rehabiliation centres,ย orphanages, Children’s homes, seminars,ย festivals/arts events, associations, clubs,ย companies, ghettos/slums, on the streets ,ย among other places.
His art, work and innovations have also traveledย to so many places on earth where he has never
physically been.

His art is inspired by his life lessons which haveย shaped him into the kind of person he is.
